National Science Week is coming! We need volunteers to help run the training workshops for youth, including youth explainers/presenters. Volunteers will be fed and receive a Science of the Outdoor badge.

Youth explainers/presenters positions are open to Venturers, Scouts and mature Cubs. Training for youth explainers/presenters is scheduled for Sunday 18 July, 10am-3pm @ Camp Cottermouth (ACT). Separate Activity Approval forms will be sent to youth for this session.

For Adult helpers I need a range of skills:

  • Chemistry knowledge (adults only, to supervise the fire science activity)
  • Pioneering skills
  • General leader skills (to supervise less specialist activities)
  • Older Cubs/Scouts/Venturers to run activities - training will be provided
  • Communications
  • First aid
  • Catering
  • Traffic control
  • Scheduling and logistics
